We start at the door and work outward: floor height, usable size, stair direction, grade, access, and where people will actually sit or move. Framing, rails, and finish are developed around that plan.

Best first question: what should be easier outside than it is now?

Full deck replacement

For an existing deck where too much of the assembly is compromised, undersized, or poorly connected to justify keeping it.

A replacement is a chance to correct more than worn boards. It can resolve awkward stairs, weak railings, bad transitions, water at the house, or a footprint that no longer fits how the yard is used.

The scope should say what comes out, what remains, and what changes.

Composite upgrade

For homeowners who want a lower-maintenance surface without hiding a frame that needs attention.

We evaluate the structure first, then plan decking, fascia, fasteners, railings, and edge details as one conversion. Composite boards alone do not make an old deck new.

The cost of the finish should follow—not precede—the frame decision.

Stairs and railings

For the two parts of a deck that most directly affect how solid and comfortable it feels.

Stair rise, tread, landing, hand contact, post attachment, and sightlines all matter. When they are part of a larger deck project, we resolve them with the structure rather than adding them at the end.

If a rail shakes or a stair feels wrong, treat it as more than a finish detail.
